For 2D animation, ToonBoom lets you use their software for free and has a bunch of resources online that can aid you if you want to get a ToonBoom certificate. If you pay for online courses, some of them are going to provide all the software that is being used within the course. There's a bunch of stuff you can download in a non-commercial form and just use forever (Houdini, Mari, Nuke etc.). If you go to uni, you will have access to free software while you're a student, pretty much everything fron Autodesk, The Foundry and Allegorithmic. ![]() How are you planning to learn animation? Are you going to enroll in an university course? Are you going to pay for online courses? Are you going to try to learn on your own from free tutorials? If you're learning it on your own, do you have any schedule/plan in mind? What are your resources?
